Inspire Mixed Media Canvas

June 4, 2015 at 9:44 amCategory:Altered Projects | USTREAM Classes

If you are like me, you might have TONS of Prima flowers. I went through a phase where I bought every new pack that came out. I couldn’t get enough! Once I started focusing on Project Life, I stopped using the flowers because they were too bulky on the pages.

Recently, I saw a video that Donna Downey created where she used tons of flowers on an art journal page. I used her idea as inspiration for this canvas. I was tearing into countless packs of flowers and it was almost like those pretty things were thanking me for finally getting used.

I created this canvas on UStream if you would like to check it out. It is actually about 9X24 and takes up a nice chunk of wall space in our bedroom. Marty hung it near our bed to remind me of my goals & dreams…

Art Anthology Skyline Canvas

April 3, 2014 at 8:51 pmCategory:***Heidi's Artsy Posts***

I was so thrilled to do a LIVE UStream Show a few weeks ago! We had so much fun chatting, making art and making new friends. What a perfect way to spend a Friday night.

In case you missed the show, you can check out the recording.

I promised during the show that I would finish the canvas.
I had a blast adding more layers of paint, color and sprays.
I used brushes and got crazy by sticking my fingers into the paints and smearing them on the canvas.
Won’t you try some Art Anthology?! Now…GO MAKE SOME ART!

Project Life UStream

Can you believe that I actually did a UStream Show last night?! It was very impromptu and tons of fun. I finished my Project Life Week 6 on the show.

Here it is (in two parts) in case you missed it:

It Is 5 o’clock Somewhere Art Journaling

August 15, 2013 at 1:22 pmCategory:Art Journal | VIDEOS

Do you LOVE art journaling? New to the idea?
Check out my latest video for a fun background technique!
I used tissue paper, BINGO cards and Catalyst Wedges. BUT, you can use paper towels, napkins, papers from your stash…and instead of those wedges, try cheap hair combs!

In An Altered State?!

555783_10151315020634091_516944200_nWhat a great way to enjoy the OUTSIDE of a wine bottle after you enjoy the goodness INSIDE the bottle! I decided to alter this bottle using some pretty, vintage goodies that were all over my table from some projects that I was working on. If you would like to see how it’s done, check out my UStream Show–the link is at the end of this post.

Vintage Dress Form Cards

May 13, 2012 at 2:56 pmCategory:CARDS

WOW-school has been crazy busy! I have been coming home wiped out. Marty & I decided to change the color of our living room and make some changes in that space…more on that later. Back to blogging again…
Today, I am sharing two cards with the same layout. I used some different but similar papers. I love this dress form-it’s from Tim Holtz and one of my favorites! To get that ripped, vintage look on the dress form–spray it first with a spray of your choice. Then paint parts of the form with Distress Paint & let it dry. The cracks will take on the color of the spray. The paper on the form is done by tracing the dress form and then tearing out the traced image. I hope that makes sense. I would be happy to do a youtube video if you want to see the process step-by-step. (Leave a comment if that’s the case!)

Speaking of videos, I love doing youtube videos and my UStream show. I haven’t done either in a while for the simple reason that I don’t know what you want to see/learn. If you are interested in seeing videos again, give me a shout in the comments section with anything that you would love to see. Can’t wait to hear from you!
