Nostalgia Kit Bird Card

WOW! Can you believe that Nostalgia Kit from Your Memories Here is STILL ticking? I LOVE using new items with my “stash” of great art supplies. Here is another card that I created using the goodies from that kit. I combined the Nostalgia papers, trims and bling with that gorgeous bird stamp from my stash. Wondering how I colored the image? I used my markers to color the stamp, did a quick “huff” of warm breath to moisten it and then stamped away. I am so excited with how this turned out. I can’t wait to dig into my beautiful stamp collection and create away!

BIG Baby Girl Card & a Lil’ Challenge

I work in an elementary school and we are always celebrating someone whether it’s for a wedding or a new baby. On the other hand sometimes, unfortunately, it might be acknowledging a death in a colleague’s family. Recently, we were collecting for a teacher who is about to bring a baby girl into his family. I kept seeing these “store bought” cards being passed around and finally put a stop to it. I offered to create this card to be shared. Now, I normally create smaller cards-your “standard” card size for those of us that make them. This time I had to create something bigger so it could be signed inside for the many staff members at the school. The size of this card is 8.5X5.5 which led itself to a new design challenge for me. How do I make the design make sense over such a large area to work with?

This challenge was made a ton easier when I grabbed new goodies from Your Memories Here. I recently picked up the Cottage Farms collection from Pink Paislee. Those gorgeous papers mixed with some Prima flowers from the grab bag offered at Your Memories Here made the perfect combination. I added a few items from my stash, of course. That goes back to my whole philosophy of mixing old with new goodies for a ton of pop! The staff loved the card and I can’t wait for the recipient to receive it!

You need to be invited to the site so if you are interested, leave a comment with with your email address and I will invite you so you can check it out, too. Tomorrow, at 9am 5 of my handmade cards are slotted to go on the auction block. The shipping is free and the bid starts at only $5 for all 5 cards & envelopes. I hope you will check out the auction and let your friends know.

August 15, 2011 at 8:00 amCategory:CARDS

Layers, Layers, Layers…what a perfect way to use your scraps or those wonderful paper packs that are made to “make sense” together. This card was so much fun to make because I used tons of little scraps and placed them into a fun layout. I love the fresh colors of this card and how it all came together.

Reghan’s American Girl Birthday Card

August 5, 2011 at 8:00 amCategory:CARDS

A few months back Reghan, my sisters and my mom came to New York City for the day. It was Reghan’s first time visiting her Aunt Heidi in the big city & I made sure it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight of her day was going to the American Girl Store in midtown where she was able to pick out her American Girl Doll with a ton of clothes and accessories. Yep, that little girl has ME wrapped around her finger! Reghan picked out Kit-a beautiful doll that looks just like her. She adores that doll-it sleeps with her (after being properly tucked in), rides in the car (in her own car seat), gets changed in clothes to suit the occasion, goes to picnics…you get the idea! For her birthday, I found these KIT stickers at Michael’s and KNEW they were perfect. I picked up two packs of stickers in each outfit-she will get those when I see her this weekend. I used one pack of the stickers to make this special birthday card for her. Girly, flowery and full of tons of love…I love you Reghan-you have my heart!
