I am an artist in New York City! I love teaching classes in the city, teaching on UStream and sharing the love of PaperCrafts with people. I am so lucky to be surrounded by the most amazing people who bring out the absolute best parts of me.
My art is inspired by all things beautiful-Marty (the love of my life), my family, gorgeous nieces, pups (furry kids), the most amazing friends in the WORLD, nature, anything that sparkles, peaceful colors...

I absolutely love altering picture frames. Something about a plain palette and the creative possibilities! I used some of Claudine Hellmuth’s foam stamps and lots of paints on this frame. It is about 11X14-give or take. I put beautiful pictures of my stunning nieces in the frame and gave it to my mom. I love seeing it displayed in her home when I go to visit. Altering frames-a perfect, meaningful gift and so fun to create!

LOVE the art journal project that I do with two of my artsy pals! These two pages were so much fun-Little Bo in the bathtub. The theme of the journal was more or less what to do when you feel stressed out…scream or SING in the shower! Bo is the peek-a-boo behind the pretty pink shower curtain. This makes me giggle every time I see it!

Do you LOVE the colors on this layout? These yummy papers came from Close To My Heart. They were perfect for the pictures of my day on the Manhattan Country School farm with Corris! I love the beautiful colors in these pictures and the smiling faces-we had such a fun day. See that little cow on the bottom? I fell in LOVE with that little guy and almost talked Corris into bringing him back to Manhattan with us. Needless to say, that little guy (who is probably MUCH bigger now) still lives on the farm–I am sure Hunter & Bo (our fur babies) are probably glad about that.

LOVING TopHatter? You haven’t checked it out yet? You MUST! It is a great live auction site. I personally get overwhelmed when I go to EBay. (Don’t get me wrong, really like EBay but I can get lost on the site forever.) TopHatter auctions off one lot at a time with live bidding and conversation. You need to be invited to the site so if you are interested, leave a comment with with your email address and I will invite you so you can check it out, too. Tomorrow, at 9am 5 of my handmade cards are slotted to go on the auction block. The shipping is free and the bid starts at only $5 for all 5 cards & envelopes. I hope you will check out the auction and let your friends know.

I am still eating good & healthy! Yep, no changes there. I am not dieting-this isn’t temporary, it’s for life. Recently, Marty & I added Zumba to our life! We bought the videos last summer and enjoyed them (to a point). They are high impact but we struggled with the flashing lights and odd camera angles. The videos, though, showed us something new and we laughed A LOT!
In our neighborhood in New York City, we discovered Wiggles & Giggles. It is a great place for kids but they also have adult exercise classes there. Three times a week-Zumba! Two times a week-Yoga! You can check out the Zumba site and find classes near you. You might be surprised about how many classes are available in your area!
Some people worry about going to their first class because they are nervous about learning the steps. No worries-a great instructor will help you through that. AND plus, it is all about MOVING! Here is a youtube video of the basic steps to get you started:

Weird, different, a little quirky?! That was the goal! I made these butterflies out of Shrinky Dink plastic. Love using that! No, you don’t need to fire up your oven-melt that plastic (carefully) with a heat tool. I ran the plastic through my Big Shot using the same die that I used for yesterday’s project. The biggest tip is to punch a hole in the plastic BEFORE you heat it. Once it is hard, there is no chance of punching a hole. Punch it really BIG as it, too, will shrink down. Once the little bflies were shrunk, I squirted random colors of alcohol inks on them and added a jump ring. Perfect charm for a piece of funky jewelry or scrapbook page. Once they were done, they really reminded me of the graffiti art that we see all over New York City. Try a project with Shrinky Dink plastic-so fun! I grabbed mine at Michael’s and Dick Blick (they have funky colors in the kids art section).

These butterflies were a blast to make and SO easy! I made these for a swap and just had to keep a bunch for myself. You can create tons of versions of these beauties but let me tell you what I did:
1. Grab some old lace-I sprayed mine with Glimmer Mist just to add some color and visual interest.
2. Run the lace through your Big Shot with a butterfly die.
3. I used old text from a book that I picked up at the Goodwill for a quarter! Run those pages through the Big Shot with the same die that you used for the lace.
4. To put the two layers together, I drizzled just a bit of wet adhesive down the center of the butterfly. I wanted the lace wings to be “free” (hope that makes sense).
5. Once that was dry, add some bling or pearls down the center.
…yep, that is IT! Try some of your own and enjoy using them on cards and scrapbook pages! Great way to use up scraps of fabric, lace and paper. The possibilities are endless, really.

Today I am feeling inspired! I am in my studio bright & early with the sun shining in. A warm cup of java in my hand and I am ready to create. It has been ages since I made cards. Actually, it has been too long since I have done any crafting. I lost my mojo for a bit. Not sure exactly what that was about?! A crafty weekend getaway with my favorite gals helped kickstart my art. (I will write more on that later. Check out my pal Eileen’s Blog for her version of the great weekend!) Our group of artsy chicks is very lucky to have each other. We are always pushing creativity outside the box a bit and this past weekend was no exception! Lots of art! Now, that you are wanting more on that (sorry for the teaser)…these two cards are vintage and quite “springy”. I just had to share them with you! I mentioned the new auction site, TopHatter, in my last post. I will be selling my handmade cards on that site very soon. I promise to blog about that when the time comes. For now, I hope to hear from you—-love your comments!
