Bird Mini Book Page

January 21st, 2012 by Heidi Bound received No Comments »

Remember quite some time ago I wrote that my friends share 4X4 mini book pages for each our birthdays? This is one that I sent recently to my artsy friend, Eileen Bellomo of the amazing blog, Art Saves Lives. She is one of the most creative and TALENTED people I know. I am addicted to using corrugated cardboard in projects like this and this one is no exception! Happy Birthday my wonderful friend, Eileen!

Artsy Flowers in An Art Journal

January 20th, 2012 by Heidi Bound received 1 Comment »

Another fun art journal creation! I have a great tip: I love putting cardstock or ugly “not-so-lovely anymore” patterned paper in my spray bucket. Then, when I spray a project with Glimmer Mist (or other FAB sprays) the paper gets covered in the color and shimmer. I have oodles of these colorful papers and decided one day to run them through my Big Shot using the Tattered Florals die from Tim Holtz. I was left with a basket of gorgeous paper flowers. I got the idea to use Matte Medium and cover the pages of the art journal with the flowers. THEN, I COULD NOT STOP! I used more flowers and used this same simple technique to make a 12X12 sheet of paper that I will use in another project. This would be cool with any die in your collection-can you imagine my own paper made from butterflies or maybe birds? Stay tuned for more…

Happy 2012 Art Journal

January 19th, 2012 by Heidi Bound received No Comments »

Here is another addition to the art journal that I create with some of my artsy peeps! These pages were inspired by a New Year’s advertisement from Anthropologie. I thought it would be fun to recreate that ad AND, of course, I loved the trumpet. Mine turned out a little “comic book-ish” but Marty says he LOVES it. The confetti is just some cut up scraps with some fun bits from a product by Suze Weinberg-can’t remember what it’s called. There are a few little banners in there that I have had in my stash forever. You just never know when those things will come in handy!!!

On Saturday, I taught a class at Rock Paper Scissors in Montclair, NJ. Each month we focus on a theme and a technique. This month we used a brand new paper collection from Basic Grey called Kissing Booth. I taught techniques using Flock and Glitter products. If you live nearby, come & join us! We are starting a brand new scrapbooking class in less than two weeks. Hope to see YOU at Rock Paper Scissors!

In Love With Corrugated Cardboard!

January 15th, 2012 by Heidi Bound received No Comments »

This page was SO much fun to make. I think I had to make about a dozen of them. These were for a swap that I did a few months ago. What I love the most about this is the use of corrugated cardboard. I LOVE using cardboard with paints & sprays in my projects. It is really fun to look at items differently-bubble wrap, protective wraps around wine bottles or fruit, bags from potatoes. These items make great stamps for texture or stencils. What are you items that you use in your art that are a little funky or outside the box?

Baby Girl Gift Bag

January 13th, 2012 by Heidi Bound received No Comments »

A lil’ fringe, a lil’ Glimmer Mist and a Prima mask–this gift bag is now perfect for the little altered frame that I shared with you yesterday. I love to collect plain white gift bags so that I can alter them and personalize them for the gift that I am giving. Who needs all of those expensive, glitzed up bags that you buy in the store? With a few items from your artsy stash, you can make your very own. This one took no time at all-quick, pretty & perfect!

Sweet Baby Girl Frame

January 12th, 2012 by Heidi Bound received No Comments »

Cute, right? I took a simple frame and altered it quite a bit. This pretty little frame is for the wonderful secretary at my school. She was close to giving birth to a beautiful baby girl. When I say close, I mean I gave this to her just a day or two before her lil’ bundle entered the world.

I love giving gifts like this because they are one-of-a-kind. She can open it up and pop a picture of her little sweetie inside. This is also a fun way to use some of the gorgeous flowers that you might be hoarding in your stash. This frame went perfectly with one of the cards I featured yesterday on the blog. Tomorrow, I will show you a quick gift bag that I made for this gift!

Two Different Versions of the Same Card

January 11th, 2012 by Heidi Bound received No Comments »

I needed two baby girl cards for two new little ones. I made both at the same time to save time. The flower paper is one-of-a-kind! It is a Prima Paintable paper that I watercolored. It took FOREVER! It was one of those things that I did over two evenings when I needed to relax with a very mindless, creative activity. I used this one 12X12 paper on a few projects-I may even have a few more scraps of it in my scrap box. I grabbed two neutral, pretty flowers for the cards. This is a perfect example of how to save a little time when you make cards. While you have the goodies on your table, make a few cards using the same papers and embellishments. The things already work together, so why not?!
