Jingle Journal Class with Dawn!
February 8th, 2013 by Heidi Bound received 3 Comments »Live in the New York City area? Then, you need to join the LITTLE BIRD CREATIONS MEETUP GROUP. My amazing friend, Michele, has the best classes at her studio on the Upper West Side. I took this class a few months ago and am just getting around to blogging about it. I loved the class and was so excited to keep up with the project in December. We created a mixed media Jingle Journal which I used to capture my daily events in December. Our wonderful teacher? The very sweet and wonderfully talented Dawn DeVries Sokol. (She has a new doodling book by the way–read more about it on her blog.)
There’s me and my friend, Pat. That’s Michele standing behind us. Wait?! Those first two pictures are from the first day of classes with Dawn were we created a different project. more on that some other time…
Here we are—me and Pat sitting next to each other. That’s Eileen across the table from us!
Group shot of the Little Birds and our journals.
We started by removing the pages from an old book. I think I used one of those cheesy Reader’s Digest Collection books. It loved the look of the patterned cover and tried to keep it as part of the overall design. Here’s a close up of my cover. This is from the day I created it. I added a few things to it but not too many changes.
I added tons of journaling, pictures and tid bits from my daily going-ons. The book ended up so thick and I am in love with it!
Here is a little peek into a few pages. I used tons of holiday embellishments from my stash. I had fun using a pretty non-traditional color palette of pinks, purple, greens, blues and white. I am not a big fan of the regular ol’ red and green, obviously!
I thought about creating a book like this for every month of my life. BUT–I can’t even begin to count the amount of hours I spent on this thing! I was addicted. I finally had to close the book and not look back…

Now that is an attractive group of ladies you are friends with!
We’re so lucky Michele is able to coordinate these wonderful classes. Until recently, we had very little happening with classes here in NYC – and now things are very different!
Two very fun days with great friends. I’m also proud that I worked in my Jingle Jangle journal and am almost finished. Love taking classes at Michele’s studio!
That looked like so much fun! Wish I lived in NYC and could take classes with you ladies! FUN!!!!
