Confusion About My New Body
February 21st, 2012 by Heidi Bound received No Comments »***I have a page dedicated on my blog to my HEALTHY JOURNEY but I will no longer be posting on that page. I initially wanted to keep that separate from my art. Some people come to my blog just for the healthy section and unfortunately posting it as I had before doesn’t allow the posts to update in places like Facebook and Google Reader. Plus, it keeps blogging fun and interesting for me!***
One of the biggest challenges lately may seem a little superficial. And don’t get me wrong, I am certainly celebrating that I have this problem BUT it is such a new learning process. I have learned so much about health, eating and fashion over the last 9 months. As a size 14 (almost 16), I covered my body in anything distracting. I wore LOTS of busy patterns and very flowy, billowy blouses. That revelation took place as I have been going through the process of cleaning out my closet. I had so many sizes in there-it’s been quite a process.
Yesterday, I had three hours of shopping in the city. I spent some time at Urban Outfitters and tons of time at Loehmann’s. The gorgeous Spring colors and styles were amazing but I was overwhelmed. How do I dress this body? I did have a wonderful triumph at Loehmann’s as I scoured the 40% off Clearance rack. (I love a good bargain!) I found a slinky black one-sleeve dress in a size 8 and thought I would give it a try. I danced around inside of the dressing room when it fit me like a glove. Perfect for a night out in the city. I also picked up a black maxi dress at Urban Outfitters and Vince Camuto boots at Loehmann’s (clearance of $30)! See the other part to think about is that redoing a closet can get expensive.
Back to the “issue” at hand-I spent THREE HOURS shopping yesterday! THREE! Most of the time was spent going through racks with my eyes glazed over. I tried on many things and things didn’t really “work”. I look in the mirror and still at times see the girl that was 212 pounds. Now, I am 35 pounds lighter! I smile when things fit but then I get overwhelmed in my head with “what will I wear this with, where will I wear it, do I have anything like it”…every single time.
Today, I turned on TLC and there was a great episode on about a gal that lost oodles of weight and was facing the same problem.
I watched and wanted to take notes. I have to admit that I didn’t learn a ton considering I have spent tons of time researching and learning about fashion. I did learn not to wear light bottoms which I normally don’t but it was still great to keep in mind. Speaking of learning, I had to learn a ton about eating and how to lose the weight. Now, I spent time on “real-people” fashion blogs looking at outfits and how to combine pieces. I have some favs and will share those in another post. I have been posting outfit inspiration as well as my shopping “wants” on Pinterest.
Stay tuned to this page and I will keep you posted about my fashion overhaul, challenges and learning experiences. PLEASE leave a comment or question-would LOVE to hear from you.
