Paper Earthquake at The Mecca

Before bed a few days ago I told Marty I heard a sound. He got up and went looking…nothing. The next day I was sitting in The Mecca (my craft room) working on some projects and looked over the find this awful discovery. The shelf that holds my paper was really broken! The sound from the night before was that shelf giving us a warning!

SO…off to IKEA we went. It wasn’t in the plans for the day but absolutely necessary so the shelf didn’t completely crumble to the ground. We loaded up on a new shelving/organizational system for the paper. (There is also a new system for my stamps but I will share that one later!)
We also picked up some drawers for the shelving system, a new rug and a lampshade! Lots of pink, shabby chic goodness!
AND THEN…we tore apart the room. Marty was convinced that we MUST finish the room before bed that night. AND…he was right. We had only a few odds & ends to put away the next day but overall this mess was put away.
Look at ALL of that paper that we had to put away.

Don’t I look thrilled about this unexpected project? And, yes…I pushed through and got this all straightened out. And, I have to admit, it looks and feels SO much better in there.
Here is a youtube video that tells the whole story:
